I read the three-volume Exploring Christian Theology series from which this single-volume edition draws, and I appreciate that Essentials of Christian Theology makes the same core material more accessible. Holsteen and Svigel introduce the major doctrines of Christian theology, summarize areas of agreement and disagreement, identify key biblical texts and common errors, and connect doctrine to Christian life.
This is a strong entry point for readers who are beginning to think more seriously about theology and want something substantial without immediately committing to a multi-volume set. It is approachable for early theologians while still treating the material with appropriate depth and care.
