For my evangelical friends, Catholic contemplation may sound unfamiliar. Keating’s work on Centering Prayer traces a spiritual journey from the false self toward deeper communion with God, drawing from Catholic contemplative tradition and psychological insight.
I do not approach every aspect of Keating’s framework the same way he does, but I appreciate the beauty of intentionally slowing down, becoming quiet before God, and reflecting on what is happening beneath the surface of our lives. In a noisy, hurried world, there is real value in learning to be still, pay attention, and let reflection shape the way we live.
Read this one with theological discernment, but do not miss the invitation to recover silence, reflection, and attentiveness as meaningful parts of spiritual life.
