The New Testament in Color

A Multiethnic Bible Commentary
Topic(s): Bible & Biblical Studies

Author(s): Esau McCaulley (general editor), Janette H. Ok, Osvaldo Padilla & Amy Peeler (associate editors)

I bought The New Testament in Color because I wanted to read the New Testament through cultural lenses different from my own. This one-volume commentary brings together a multiethnic team of scholars committed to historic Christian faith, pairing close exegesis with attention to social location and the ways different cultural perspectives can illuminate the text.

As I grow in biblical knowledge, I never want to lose sight of the truth that Scripture, like Jesus Himself, is for all of us, not the possession of any one culture or people. I value the way this commentary broadens the conversation without abandoning orthodox Christian commitments.

An Old Testament companion volume is still forthcoming, and I’ve heard Carmen Imes is contributing the chapter on Exodus. When it is released, I’ll be watching for the preorder.
